Swedish Massage
Addresses muscle and connective tissue of the body and has therapeutic benefits for the body and mind. Swedish massage can vary greatly to create the most beneficial treatment to meet each individual’s needs. Treatment is done with the client lying on a massage table and securely draped with a sheet. Oil or lotion is applied to the skin to lubricate the strokes, which can be long and gliding, kneading, or deep and specific. This style of massage is highly effective for releasing muscular tension and stress carried in the body and increasing physical health and emotional well-being.
Deep Tissue
Therapeutically oriented treatment designed to be address specific pain and concerns. Deep-tissue massage generally consists of slower strokes and is directed toward the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. A deep-tissue massage works specifically on the muscles and connective tissues to increase circulation of blood and oxygen, increase muscle function and range of motion, break up scar tissue, eliminate trigger points and decrease pain.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
Specific massage, flexibility stretching, and home care to eliminate the causes of most pain patterns. This scientific approach to muscular pain relief brings about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles and biomechanics. NMT dramatically increases flexibility, balance, strength and energy by interrupting pain pathways, improving circulation of the system of muscles that are in dysfunction
Thai Massage (Thai Yoga Massage)
This dynamic technique focuses on moving energy and releasing tension by placing the receiver in passive yoga positions, incorporating gentle rocking, rhythmic compression and many healthful stretches. Like shiatsu, Thai Massage incorporates knowledge of pressure points and meridian systems from Asian Medical Theory and can greatly increase vitality and fluidity. Thai massage is received on a futon, fully clothed. Please wear loose comfortable clothing. Available in 90 and 120 minute treatments.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is mixture of stretches and massage techniques. Myofascial release promotes healing and relieves pain using kneading manipulation that stretches, softens, lengthens and realigns fascia and careful observation of posture to identify stressed areas of the body. Restricted areas are stretched along the direction of the muscle fibers. This stretch is held for a couple of minutes until a softening or release is felt. and repeated until the tension is felt no more. Perfect for sport specific injuries and issues as well as rehabilitation and relied of allover muscular tightness.
Lymphatic Massage
Very light touch stimulates the lymphatic system to transport cellular wastes for elimination of toxins. This is a highly effective technique for enhancing the efficiency of the immune system and purifying and rejuvenating the body. Often combined with Swedish massage techniques, lymphatic massage is done with the client lying on a massage table and securely draped with a sheet.
Prenatal
Special props and pillows are used during massage so the expecting mother can be comfortable and supported in her growing body. Massage can be enjoyed throughout pregnancy right up until delivery. Receiving massage during pregnancy helps to support the woman through hormonal shifts and physical changes and can help prepare the woman physically and emotionally for labor and postpartum. Postnatal massage is also available.
Hot Stone Therapy
Deeply relaxing; involves the application of heated stones during massage. Functionally stimulates the circulatory system, softens/ relaxes muscles, helps release toxins, relieves pain/ muscle spasms, and creates a feeling of peacefulness. This treatment is not recommended during pregnancy and is only available in office (please specify this treatment when booking appointment).
